IPSi Gas Cylinder Tracking

IPSi has provided a tracking solution to large pharmaceutical company (300 acres, 75 buildings) to facilitate billing reconciliation, verify delivery and provide accurate and timely reporting that previously was cumbersome, if not impossible, with their manual system. It is conservatively estimated that "thousands" of gas cylinders move in and out annually at this location.

Utilizing Hand Held Products Dolphin 7200 scanners with home base, external modem, and IPSi communication software at the receiving dock general worker scans gas tank I.D. bar code and delivery location of tank (date/time automatically gathered as well) and delivers to scientist in lab. The same process is performed when picking up empty tanks to return to dock and ultimately the vendor.

When each operation is completed the worker places Dolphin in home base and presses one key to start dial-up communication session. Critical data is now transferred from 12 different buildings to main server location and database is updated.

The new system has saved time, increased customer service and has enabled them to accurately reconcile with their cylinder supplier on a real time basis. Utilizing the IPSi communication module enabled the use of standard telephone lines thereby eliminating any additional costs. The beta test in the first building resulted in 99% accuracy while buildings not using system remained at less then 50% accuracy.
